Bauhaus is 100! the Bauhaus Balloon: a talk by Alan Powers

17 September - 18:30 - 20:00

£10

Has the centenary year of the Bauhaus brought to a crisis the longstanding problem of a gap between its reputation and the historical reality?

Alan Powers, author of the recent book Bauhaus Goes West, will trace the origin of this inflation and the reasons why it has delayed the possibility of finding a more balanced and inclusive understanding of twentieth century architecture and design.

Alan Powers teaches at London School of Architecture and the Univeristy of Kent.  He has a long involvement with conservation through The Twentieth Century Society.
