ESC – Energy Efficiency Measures for Older and Traditional Buildings: 2 day course – Level 3 Award Qualification

11 March 2021 - 09:00 - 12 March 2021 - 17:00

£495

Over one-third of UK buildings are traditional – that is according to the definition of a traditional building defined in BSI PAS 2035: 2019: Specification for the energy retrofit of domestic buildings. These buildings are different from modern buildings and need to be treated differently.

The Environment Study Centre teamed up with the CITB’s National Construction College and specialist building consultancy Edwards Hart to develop this unique 2-day course that delivers a real qualification in energy efficiency retrofit.

The course is run in partnership with the University of Wales Trinity St David Group (Coleg Sir Gâr), a group that incorporates the Construction Wales Innovation Centre (CWIC), where our course tutor Professor John Edwards provides a leadership role in the subject of retrofit.

Learners booking with us will be in good hands. Our tutor, a certified expert in older and traditional buildings, developed the course, worked on the original National Occupational Standards on which it is based, led on the development of the British Standard (BS7913) for older and traditional buildings and was a member of the panel producing BSI PAS 2030 and PAS 2035 as a Director of Edwards Hart, the only specialist consultant with expertise in traditional building retrofit to be invited to attend. The Environment Study Centre only uses subject experts as tutors and prides itself in delivering high-quality training. Since 2016, hundreds have achieved the Level 3 Award qualification from a range of organisations that have included housing associations, contractors, retrofit installers, sustainability bodies, consultants and heritage organisations which has included the National Trust and English Heritage. The course takes account of latest research and developments such as PAS 2035.

Upon successful completion participants will be awarded the NOCN Level 3 Award for Energy Efficiency for Older & Traditional Buildings (QCF). This is a government-approved qualification and has been developed to suit contractors and consultants, as well as clients.

This qualification provides individuals with the recognition that they have achieved an independently recognised level of knowledge. If you are involved in Government or energy provider (ECO) funded retrofit, you may be required to hold the NOCN Level 3 Award for Energy Efficiency for Older & Traditional Buildings (QCF) qualification. The UK standard retrofit specification ‘PAS 2035: Specification for retrofitting dwellings for improved energy efficiency’ makes this a requirement.
