Description: Are we doing enough to keep valuable, historic buildings safe from being demolished or significantly altered before they can be protected by listing? Should BPNs be used more as an effective method of interim protection? Historic England has, for the last three years, been running an indemnification pilot scheme, whereby LPAs can request that a BPN be underwritten, thereby taking away the threat of possible compensation.
