HE – Traditional Roofs Conference

3 March 2020 - 09:00 - 17:00

£145

Repair & Conservation: facing the challenge in the 21st Century

Traditional roofing materials and techniques have defined the appearance of our built heritage for centuries. They contribute to both the character of individual buildings and wider regional identity. But traditional roofs are under threat from various quarters, including deterioration of materials, theft and vandalism, lack of awareness of vernacular details and introduction of modern techniques.

This major one-day conference reports on Historic England’s latest technical research into the deterioration and conservation of traditional roof coverings including lead, slate and thatch, and discusses recent developments in conservation, repair and energy efficiency of traditional roofs.

The day will be of interest to building conservation professionals, including conservation officers, architects and surveyors, as well as contractors involved in the repair of historic roofs.
