I am writing on behalf of Green Skibbereen , to invite you to the official Launch of the Centre for Excellence in Climate Action and Sustainability (CECAS) at Myross Wood House  on Sunday 26th of September, from 10 AM to 4 PM

The Event will kick off with a presentation by our Chair (Trish Lavelle) and Secretary (Noel Casserly) on the background and plans for the development of the Centre and its mission ove the coming months and years.

The second part of the event, (from 11 AM to 12.30 PM)  will host a presentation of the Energy Pathfinder Project that is being developed by a European Partnership, funded under the Northern Periphery and Arctic Programme (E Interreg) and led by Cork Centre for Architectural Education at UCC and involved 5 other Partners from 5 different regions in the Northern Periphery of Europe

At this event we will explain the Energy Pathfinder Project, that is investigation retrofitting options for Myross Wood House as well as 5 other historic buildings in different regions, with a view to achieving Near Zero Energy. Also, the projects proposal for an on-line tool to allow owners of historic buildings to retrofitting them. This tool will be available from the project in the coming months.

CCAE will also explain how Third Year Architecture students at UCC have been working with the Project as a testing ground for innovative architectural concepts.

In parallel, an event on Biodiversity will take place on the grounds of the House, in collaboration with Irish Natural Forestry Foundation at Mach, Innishannon. This will include facilitators from INFF.

In the afternoon, a more informal public event will be held in the Courtyard of the House (open to the public) which will features stall from various groups, light entertainment, coffee and networking.
