OUDCE – Contested Heritage

27 May 2021 - 09:45 - 12:00

£65

The government has published new proposals for managing contested heritage in England. There is pressure to remove monuments which reflect a contested heritage. This course aims to provide a balanced approach to the decision making process, based on assessments of significance, and examining the harm and impact in alternative proposals in planning and heritage terms.

Presentations outlining the background and main issues will be followed by an open discussion session with the course directors and other participants. The course will be delivered online via Microsoft Teams from 10.00 am to 12 noon UK time on Thursday 27 May 2021.

The course will be of particular interest to heritage asset managers and advisers, planners, historic environment professionals, those managing places of worship, architects, surveyors and others who do not specialise in heritage but may need to understand the issues of contested heritage, and the new guidance for its management.
