Heritage Statements are required for any planning application or listed building consent which affects the significance of a heritage asset, this is enshrined in the NPPF and particularly Paragraph 189. If undertaken correctly, these do not only provide a supporting document for an application but also a useful resource of baseline information which can inform an appropriate scheme of development, repair or conservation.
This morning course explores the following:
- Why undertake a Heritage Statement;
- Content and Format;
- Research and Resources;
- Types of Heritage Assets;
- The Setting of Heritage Assets; and
- The NPPF and types of Harm.
The course will be provided by Tim Murphy IHBC MCIfA. Tim has over ten years’ experience working in the private sector as a Heritage Consultant across the UK and Ireland. He is now the Historic Environment Manager at Place Services, managing both historic building and archaeological development control support to several local planning authorities in the east and south east of England.
