SPAB – Approaching Building Repair Projects: Investigation and Research

12 September 2019 - 09:30 - 17:00

£100

One of the key principles of the SPAB’s approach to caring for old buildings is that thought should proceed action. Before any repair works can take place, an understanding of a building’s history, design and construction, and potential underlying issues is essential.

Using the SPAB’s own Old House Project as a case study to bring this approach to pre-works investigations to life, this one-day course aims to give an illustration of the kinds of surveys and investigations you might undertake before starting works.

Led by professionals in their fields, the course will give you an idea of what to expect when you commission pre-work surveys, what your legal obligations are, and what questions you need answered before putting a schedule of work in place. A tour of the SPAB’s Old House Project will conclude the day.

Suitable for both professionals wishing to deepen their knowledge of best practice and managers and owners of historic properties.
