The Hill House, Helensburgh
A modernist masterpiece ‘in a box’

The Hill House, Charles Rennie Macintosh’s pioneering modernist house, built for Glasgow publisher Walter Blackie in 1903 using cutting-edge materials, has not withstood Scotland’s weather well. Bryan Dickson will describe the National Trust for Scotland’s approach to repairing the building, including allowing it to dry out within a temporary protective steel mesh box, designed by Carmody Groarke. The lecture will be followed by a site visit led by Bryan Dickson.
