to conclude our industrial heritage campaign of the 2018 European Year of Cultural Heritage and to launch our follow-up EYCH2018+

The weekend will be organized in and near BRUSSELS with visits to and meetings at sites in the neighbourhood.

Side themes to be discussed:
* evaluating the position of the industrial heritage during the European Year of Cultural Heritage
* cross-boder co-operation between volunteers and voluntary associations in Europe
* the role of volunteers and associations for the development of industrial heritage tourism
* INDUSTRIANA and the border-crossing presentation of industrial heritage sites

Provisional programme

May 31st, Brussels: start at 15:00 :
– discussing the European Year of Cultural Heritage
– cross-border activities and twinning between industrial heritage associations
– reporting on and closure of the 2019 European Factory Chimneys Month (May)
– the INDUSTRIANA network
– proposal for a European SAVE industrial heritage programme

June 1st : moving to the paper and cardboard mill ‘Herisemmolen’ at Alsemberg (restored by a volunteer association), an example of the power of volunteers
A bus brings the participants from Brussels to Alsemberg
– morning: key note lectures
– afternoon : associations present their activities and opinions about cross-border co-operation

June 2nd : field trips – visiting the Vilvoorde industrial heritage street museum, the Boom brickyards,…
