Join us for an on-line talk presented by the imminent historian Marcus Patton on Tuesday 21st July at 7:00pm.

Although now generally thought of as a dormitory town, many of whose inhabitants work in Belfast and shop in out-of-town shopping centres en route to work, Bangor has a long history and some fine buildings. This talk will cover the town’s early development around Bangor Abbey and its heyday as a seaside resort once the railway arrived in the mid 19th century, and consider some glamorous buildings from the 1930s. Some more recent developments have been less happy, and the development of the Marina and gradual demolition of Queen’s Parade have not been without controversy, so a crystal ball will be brought out to consider what the future holds for this distinguished town.
