ACHT – From palisades to palace to party pad- surveying 800 years of Fyvie Castle

In this second of a five talk series in Aberdeen Heritage Lectures for 2022 Annie will provide an overview of the architectural development of the castle from its early occupation in the 13thC right through to the 20thC, along with some of the key challenges in looking after it today. The presentation will explore the developing stonework and structural repair project which will be delivered by the National Trust for Scotland over the next few years to safeguard the castle and its stories into the future.

Speaker details:

Annie Robertson is a Building Surveyor Chartered with the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS). Annie studied Architecture at the Scott Sutherland School of the built Environment whilst working at a prestigious Aberdeen-based architectural firm. Following her passion for heritage Annie switched to building surveying upon taking a role with the National Trust for Scotland and obtaining her chartership.

Annie is now the Regional Surveyor for the North East covering Aberdeenshire and Angus and helping care for flagship properties including Crathes Castle, Haddo House, Castle Fraser, Craigievar Castle, Pitmedden Garden, Leith Hall, Drum Castle, Fyvie Castle, House of Dun, JM Barries Birthplace, Barry Mill and Mar Lodge.

Aberdeen City Heritage Trust recognises the support of Historic Environment Scotland and Aberdeen City Council.

Free event but suggested donation of £5 welcomed.
