Cornish Lime – Insulating Bodmin Jail

18 April - 13:00 - 14:00

Free

Join us for a free 1-hour online webinar where we discuss the challenges, considerations and products that played a role in transforming an 18th-century prison into an award-winning destination.

Description

Located on the edge of Bodmin Moor is the historic Bodmin Jail. Built in the 1770s, the once formidable and infamous prison had large areas exposed to extreme conditions that had fallen to ruin. This CPD will provide insights into our approach and the careful balance between thermal performance and moisture management to convert heavily saturated walls into luxury spaces. We’ll cover several topics, including:

  • Basics of building physics, moisture and decay
  • Considerations to protect historic building fabric
  • Challenges and risks with heavily saturated walls
  • Enhancing thermal efficiency to meet U-Value objectives
  • Preventing degrading, rot and mould development
  • Designing, matching and testing proposed solutions

There will also be an opportunity for an open Q&A session. Participants can request to receive a certificate for one credit hour of continuing professional development.

This webinar is ideal for contractors, architects, building professionals, or specifiers looking to learn more about the conservation or restoration of historic buildings.

Free & Online 1-2 pm

This webinar is hosted online via Zoom at 1 pm. Multiple dates are available to sign up online throughout the year. Once registered, you will receive an email confirmation with a link to join us on the day.
