Environment Study Centre – Energy Efficiency & Retrofit of Traditional Buildings

The Energy Efficiency Measures for Older and Traditional Buildings course is the only one of its kind that deliverers a real qualification. Successful completion will mean achieving a SQA accredited Level 3 Award qualification. The course takes a holistic approach to energy efficiency which means it covers more than just retrofit. It covers technical issues as well as heritage values including heritage impact assessments. It takes participants through the new IHBC guidance on retrofitting traditional buildings, which is based on BS 7913: 2013.

It is delivered by the Environment Study Centre in conjunction with CITB National Construction College. The course tutor is expert practitioner Professor John Edwards, lead author of BS 7913 and author of IHBC retrofit guidance. John is Chair of the IHBC Technical Panel, Director of Edwards Hart Consultants and Professor of Practice at the University of Wales Trinity St David. John is also a member of BSI Retrofit Standards Task Group and frequently presents at conferences in the UK and beyond on this subject.
