HTVF – VIRTUAL – The Future for Historic Towns and Villages in The Planning White Paper?

20 October 2020 - 14:00 - 16:00

£15

With the deadline for responding to the Government’s Planning for the Future White Paper fast approaching*, this event will explore the issues for historic towns and villages that it raises by considering the following questions:

  1. Does the assessment of the current state of the planning system, and its effects on the delivery of new homes, reflect our public and professional experiences?
  2. Which aspects of the proposed reforms are of greatest concern – the new Local Plan model, democracy and participation, resourcing, infrastructure provision, or others?
  3. What is positive about the vision for the future of planning in England – giving town planning back to planners, investment in skills, greater emphasis on design, greater transparency or more?

Join us and put your questions to our panel of speakers representing local authority planners, neighbourhood planning groups, civic societies, developers and their advisors, sustainability and design consultants:

  • Chair: Timothy Crawshaw, HTVF Chair
  • Planning: Penelope Tollitt, Director of Making Places Together, formerly Head of Planning and Sustainability, Wycombe District Council
  • Neighbourhood Planning: Dave Chetwyn, Managing Director of Urban Vision Community Enterprise CIC and advisor to Locality on neighbourhood planning
  • Civic Society: Ian Green, Chair of Oxford Civic Society
  • Development Planning: Tim Spencer, Associate Director, Nexus Planning
  • Heritage Development: Timor Tatlioglu, Partner – Heritage & Townscape, Montagu Evans
