NHIG – Writing Specifications for Heritage Ironwork

25 April - 10:00 - 16:00

£40 – £100

Event Description

A day of practical guidance which will lead you through the process of writing specifications for repairs to historic ironwork. This training event will unpick the sometimes daunting task of specifying methods and materials that are suitable for historic structures, helping you to produce unambiguous statements that address actual repair needs.

By the end of the day, with the additional support of our recently published booklet, you will be in a stronger position to create a specification document that is accurate, meaningful and fit for purpose.  This training day will also assist those who need to read, understand and carry out the content of specification documents.

Topics covered include:

  • Historical, cultural significance
  • Purpose of works
  • Environment, Timing and Budget
  • Choosing a method of repair
