IHBC at the STBA / SPAB Conference – Sustainability of Traditional Buildings

11 June 2019 - 09:30 - 17:30

The IHBC will host a stand at the 2019 STBA / SPAB Conference & Expo, at Alan Baxters in London, so be sure to visit us there as the conference explores the sustainability of traditional buildings.

The sustainability of old buildings is reliant on their ongoing use and reuse in the modern world. Understanding how they function (building physics), and how we should be maintaining and upgrading them are key to their continued usefulness – particularly in view of climate change and increased occupant demands.

The 2019 STBA-SPAB Conference & Expo will look at the current situation of regulations and initiatives, as well as the skills training that enable our built environment to include a wealth of healthy buildings with heritage and aesthetic value.

With materials playing such an important part of building maintenance and refurbishment, our exhibitors will each have the opportunity of giving a short presentation on external renders and how they can improve thermal performance of old buildings. We shall also hear from the Alliance for Sustainable Buildings on the thorny issue of plastics in construction.

In conclusion, we shall hear updates on current research, case studies from those successfully carrying out retrofit/refurbishment, and the STBA large-scale pilot of retrofit using the wholehouse approach (funded by the BEIS Building Thermal Efficiency Innovation Fund).
