Brian Parsons, co-author of London Cemeteries, an Illustrated Guide and Gazetteer, explores some familiar and lesser-known aspects of the capital’s Victorian cemeteries. A large proportion of London’s 150 plus cemeteries were established by private companies and burial boards between the 1830s and 1900. This has provided us with a unique array of sites differing in terms of landscape, buildings and memorials. A new edition of the fascinating book is due to be published.
