Yorkshire Branch – AGM & Talk

6 October 2021 - 18:30 - 20:00

Free

Yorkshire branch is having its AGM on Tuesday 5th October at 6.30pm on zoom.  It will be preceded by a talk by Mark Finch, from developer Rushbond, who will talk about the restoration of the Grade II* Leeds First White Cloth Hall:

The Grade II* First White Cloth Hall, dating from 1711, and pivotal in establishing Leeds as the major textile trading centre in West Yorkshire in the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, first appeared on the EH Building at Risk register in 1999.  For many years it was hidden behind more modern buildings.  Following various regeneration initiatives over the years, the building has been rescued  by developer Rushbond, together with Leeds City Council,  Historic England, and the Heritage Lottery Fund.

Mark will talk about its restoration, and the various challenges of bringing this significant building at risk back into use.
