The Future of the High Street: The Next Steps in Revitalising Our Town Centres

2 May 2013
London

Approximately 15,000 shops in town centres closed between 2000 and 2009, with a further 10,000 losses in the past couple of years.

Recognising the important role high streets play as a focal point of social interaction, plus the employment and local commerce opportunities they provide, the Government has pledged to reverse this downward trend.

This special symposium provides an invaluable opportunity for local authorities, retailers and leisure operators, town centre management teams and other key stakeholders to:

  • Discuss the Government’s new national Future High Streets Forum
  • Examine the latest feedback on the 27 town centres from across the country selected to be ‘Portas Pilots’
  • Explore the impact of the plus 330 ‘Town Teams’ and their likely future direction
  • Consider the latest initiatives in supporting local markets
