ACHT – Listing of Post War Buildings in Scotland

The final presentation of five Aberdeen Heritage Lectures in 2022, Dawn will talk about the work of Historic Environment Scotland in considering post WWII buildings for listing, including Aberdeen’s High Rise.

Speaker details:

Dawn McDowell has 20 years’ experience in designations working at Historic Environment Scotland and its predecessor Historic Scotland since 2002. As Deputy Head of Designations, her work is primarily focused on taking decisions on the statutory listing of historic buildings and developing policy and procedures for listing in Scotland. She is an experienced architectural historian who has an MA in Art History and MPhil in Decorative Art. She is the former editor of The Journal of the Architectural Society of Scotland and has published on 19th and 20th century architecture in Scotland. Dawn also has a BA in Fine Art and has most recently taken part in a group exhibition ‘Livingston New Town – Art History People’ at the Howden Park Centre, Livingston.
