CBCS – Building Conservation/Preservation Around the World

17 May - 12:30 - 13:30

£12.50

Are you interested to know how building conservation/preservation happens in other parts of the world?

It is sometimes all too easy to think that you are alone when inspecting or working on an old building.   The reality is very different.

Right across the world, there are others trying to do the same thing as you.

This lunchtime cpd session will give you an interesting insight into building conservation/preservation practices and how they can be similar, or different, depending on regional variations of culture and principles.

Using examples and stories from my work and travels, I’ll tell you what happens in other parts of the world.   We will look at examples in the US, Australia, Asia and the Middle East.

More Training Available In-Person

This online CPD webinar will provide the basic information but nothing can be better than gaining practical experience at real buildings.

We also have in-person training dates which you might find of interest.   We firmly believe that the very best way to learn is through practical experience.

Training Instructor

Duncan is one of the UK’s most experienced Chartered Building Surveyors regarding historic and Listed Buildings, having been doing this work for over 35 years.   He runs Listed Building Surveys and he was Chair of the RICS Building Conservation Steering Group 2017 – 2023.  He is the lead author of the new RICS Professional Standard – Conservation of Heritage Buildings and Assets, which will be published in 2024.  Duncan teaches building surveying, architectural history, building pathology and building conservation to undergraduate, postgraduate and mature students and also to the general public and the trades.
