CHF – the Challenge of Inequality

13 May 2021 - 19:00 - 20:00

Free

We are delighted to invite you to the fourth of five sessions in season two of Continuing Professional Development for built environment professionals, curated by the Commonwealth Association of Architects (ACU), the Commonwealth Association of Planners (CAP), the Commonwealth Engineers Council (CEC) and the Commonwealth Heritage Forum (CHF).

The aim of the session will be to explore deep-rooted spatial inequalities that exsit in many cities and city regions, together with recommendations to address them in order to achieve inclusive outcomes.

The session will be chaired by Ms Eleanor Mohammed, President, Commonwealth Association of Planners. Following a short framing presentation in which Ms Glinis Buffalo, Director Land Use & Environmental Planning, Treaty 8 First Nations Canada, will speak about her experience with urban planning and Canada’s Indigenous Peoples, Eleanor and Glinis will be joined by the following panel of discussants:

* Mr Vincent Goodstadt, Representative UK 2070 Project UK
* Dr. Assumpta Nagenda Musanna, Lecturer, Makerere University, Uganda
* Donna Flavell, Chief Executive of Te Whakakitenga o Waikato Inc, the iwi organisation for Waikato-Tainui, New Zealand.

The panel discussion will include engagement from an external expert Ms Kerstin Sommer, UN Habitat, Participatory Slum Upgrading Programme Manager.

Ample time will be given for Q&A. Due to the capacity of the zoom webinar we recommend you join 5-10 minutes early for each session so that you are guaranteed a place. The event will also be simultaneously live streamed to Vimeo should the Zoom reach full capacity. The recording will be uploaded on our website as soon as possible following the session.
