The Ecclesiological Society AGM and Annual Lecture 2024

25 April - 18:30 - 19:00

Free

Thursday 25 April 6.30pm. Online.

Annual General Meeting at 6.30pm on Thursday 25 April, followed at 7pm by the Annual Lecture. This year, we welcome Professor Nicholas Orme as our lecturer, and he will be drawing from his new book The History of England’s Cathedrals to speak about “Cathedrals and the Reformation”.

England’s cathedrals have reached us through centuries of change and crises, one of which was the Reformation. It destroyed the monastic communities that had operated ten of the cathedrals, and the reformed Church of England could have operated without any of them, as happened in Protestant Germany. Why then did most English cathedrals survive, and in what form did they do so?This year, the AGM and Lecture will be held entirely online, so we hope you will join us for what promises to be a fascinating lecture, wherever you live. Attendance at the AGM and Lecture are free, but you will need to sign up using Eventbrite in order to receive the Zoom link on the day.

Please visit the Society’s website for booking information.
