World Monuments Fund – SEA CHANGE Conference
4 September - 6 September£60
The Sea Change conference is intended to bring together stakeholders from the private, public and academic sectors to share information and best practice on the current and future challenges of climate change in the context of coastal heritage. This ground-breaking conference has been heavily subsidised by World Monuments Fund Britain, American Express and Blackpool Council in partnership with ICOMOS UK.
Since Blackpool’s piers were added to our 2018 Watch we have been working with Blackpool Council, ICOMOS UK and Bournemouth University on the challenges of our seaside piers and this has led to wider dialogues about the impact of climate change on our coastal heritage. As part of this work, we are supporting an international conference on coastal heritage and climate change in Blackpool. The conference does not limit itself to heritage alone. Speakers will talk about physical changes to coastlines, economic impacts and strategies for adaptation.
